Stäubli presence in a prosperous market

9th Dhaka Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition

 

Like in the past years Stäubli participated at the 9^th Dhaka Textile & Garment Machinery Exhibition from 09^th to 12^th February 2012 on the booth of our agent Spintex Technology Ltd. This year the exhibitor announced an increased number of exhibitors of about 20% compared to 2011. Approximately 650 companies from 31 countries exhibited their products on a total ground floor space of 17’000 m².

Unfortunately, the Bangladesh economy is struggling due to the high inflation rate of approx. 13%, which is the highest amount since 15 years. Additionally, a devaluation of 20% of the Bangladeshi Taka versus the US dollar is slowing down the economic growth. However, according to a report from McKinsey & Company Bangladesh is supposed to become "the next China" within the next decade.

Despite the difficult market situation the Stäubli booth attracted many customers, which were highly interested in our Shedding Systems and Stäubli’s TOPMATIC TPM 200 warp tying equipment products. During the exhibition several projects especially in the field of label weaving – an expected market of more than 300 potential customers - were discussed seriously. This might become a new application field for TOPMATIC warp tying installations.
